Hello jjj,
Thank you for your question.
I agree with the comment below that most people actually desire the
smell of leather. However, not all...

"How do you get the smell OUT?
The "leather" smell is so strong on a few pieces in the house that you
can't even stay in the same room with them! Any ideas on how to get
rid of that "skunky" leather odor?
THANKS!...
...If it's flat leather or leather furniture, I'd suggest a good
saddle soap. Once washed, find a hand lotion or baby lotion you like
the aroma of and rub it down. Good leather only lasts because the oil
keeps it moist and supple. Once your remove the oils, it'll become
brittle if not re-treated..."
A testimonial at the Environmental Air Sponge page claims it removes
leather odors:

I own and operate a shoe and boot repair shop and use lots of
different glues, solvents and other smelly stuff. I recently bought
the environmental Sponge to see if that would work in getting rid of
these smells. I have used other air cleaners and odor reducers and
they did not work so I was expecting this to be the same. I was very
shocked when this product not only got rid of litter box odor but also
glue, solvents, rubber and leather odors also. I love this product!!!
A page on antiques lists the following for leather odors:
http://www.stripall.com/page17.html
"Stinky Leather
Tomato soup or paste will remove unpleasant smells on your leather
sofa or other leather attire."
I'm not sure I would try this one, however. But...

"What an incredible product. I purchased a very expensive leather
purse on ebay, and didn't ask if it came from a "smoking" or
"Non-smoking" home...I was very upset with myself when it came in the
mail. It stunk sooo bad I could smell it when still in the fully
covered shipping box, through layers
of bubble wrap. I tried everything, and nothing worked, in fact it got
worse. I have listened to the Queen for years, and so I gave Odorzout
a shot, what did I have to lose? I had to put in and remove the
granules 3 times, and on the outside also, as instructed by your
wonderful customer service person, and vacuum it out with an
attachment. I couldn't believe the results! No more stink, at all!!!!
I was dumbfounded, but deliriously happy!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! "

I decided to call and ask them about leather furniture - 1.800.88STINK
The customer service rep said that this will work for you
unquestionably. He advised:
Instead of putting this on the leather furniture, put thin towels down
on the floor around the furniture. Then sprinkle their All Purpose on
these towels. Put a fan on to move the air. Leave overnight.
The next day, dump the used granules in your yard and they will "go
back to nature". Repeat if necessary.
So, I think we have a readily available solution for you!
