A friend of mine has been looking for a choose your own adventure type
book called something like "Tower or Rucksor" or "Tower of Roxor" -
I'm not sure of the spelling. He's been looking for something like 12
years, so the publishing date should be before the early 90's. Can you
help me find it -- either the
correct title, or an ISBN or a link to a bookstore entry.
Thank you very much!

Here's the closest I can get to it (the genre looks right):

Tower of Geburah
WHITE, Vic Mitchell (Illustrator), Kinuka Kraft (Illustrator)
September 1978

From www.bn.com

Might this be it?

I don't think Tower of Geburah is it - though it's a fantasy genre, it
doesn't look like a choose-your-own-adventure book, just a regular
story. Also, from the reviews, it seems to be of a heavily Christian
slant, and I doubt my friend would remember it so fondly.

Thank you, though!

The book you are seeking must be "The Towers of Rexor." It was
published by Signet in 1984 as part of a series of 14 "Gamebooks"
called "Dragontales," all written by Rhonda Villott Salsitz.

Here is a link to a site that includes descriptions and reviews of
five books in the series, including "The Towers of Rexor":
Gamebooks: Dragontales
http://www.gamebooks.org/dtales.htm

Here is an excerpt of this site's description of the Dragontales
series:
"This series of gamebooks, published by Signet in the mid-eighties, is
probably most easily compared to the fantasy "Endless Quest" books --
it uses no game system, but concentrates entirely on the
decision-making. It stands out for two main reasons: first of all, the
books are quite thick for the genre, being around 200 pages each and
featuring lengthy text sections between choices. Secondly, the series
is aimed at both genders, with the odd-numbered titles having white
covers and female protagonists, and the even-numbered titles having
black covers and male protagonists -- an interesting idea."

Here, also from the Gamebooks.com site, is a thumbnail description of
the plot of "The Towers of Rexor":
You are a young bard about the meet the king of the court in which you
have been sent to work. Alas, all is not well in the kingdom, and you
soon need to use your skills for more than entertainment... ."

"The Towers of Rexor" is readily available from sellers of used books
for as little as 75 cents. A good selection is found at
Bookfinder.com, here:
BookFinder.com: Search Results: "Tower of Rexor"
http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?author=&title=rexor&submit=Begin+Search&new_used=*&binding=*&isbn=&keywords=&minprice=&maxprice=&currency=USD&mode=advanced&st=sr&ac=qr

Search Strategy:

Seeing that other researchers had not come up with the exact title you
cited, I tried a Google search using the term "towers" instead of
"tower," as follows:
"choose your own adventure" "towers of"

This led to several references to "The Towers of Rexor." I then
followed up with a search using that title as the search term:
"towers of rexor"

This in turn led to the Gamesbooks.com site. I then searched on
various used book sites for a good selection of copies for sale.

Based on your description, I am confident that this is the book you
are looking for, and I am pleased to be able to provide you with a
prompt response. If any of the information is unclear, please ask for
clarification before rating this answer.

Holy cow... Great work!
Such a simple thing, but I wouldn't have thought of looking for
'towers' for the life of me.
That's it - thank you very much!
