I am trying to develop new wholesale accounts for a very small business -- a producer of handmade garments that can be viewed at www.jensenknitwear.com. I know the extended SIC code for such business, so I can get mailing lists, but I want most of all to reach small shops in resort areas -- places where a new crop of folks with deep pockets arrives weekly. Those are our very best prospects. Forget chains and department stores, because they're tough to deal with and are often bad pays for small suppliers. Forget snail mail, too, because it's just too expensive to mount such a campaign for a business this size. As my subject indicates, I want to develop an email campaign...on a shoestring. All I really need is to develop the right email list, or procure it inexpensively. How would one go about that intelligently? Many thanks. |

Unfortunately email campaigns are not that effective. Unsolicited emails are considered spam and most people dislike and immediately delete them. A snail-mail campaign would be more work and cost more but in my opinion would have a much better chance of succeeding. Just my two cents. -shiva777 |

Andrew: As someone who's idea of a good wardrobe is an endless supply of cotton-T's and sweats, this is far afield from my expertise <g>. I do have a few resources for you, which may steer you in the right direction: http://www.apparellink.com/ http://www.fashionbizinc.org/BusinessResources.asp http://www.fashionforprofit.com/ A good marketing pro can help you with copywriting for emails and snail-mail letters: They *do* get results, when done properly. Good luck! |
