Question ID: 197757
I am trying to find the artist and title of a song that I think dates
from the late 70's or ealy 80's at most. It's bugged me for years.

I heard it in Britain, and it's in a "punk" kind of musical style, but
with a bit of pop sensibility thrown in a la the Buzzcocks.

The most useful pieces of information I can provide are lyrics.

In the main chorus it goes "T-T-T Television G-G-G Generation".

Another couple of lines I remember are "Only seventeen and glued to
the screen, Television Generation queen"

All help appreciated!

Thanks for a great answer. The name of the band was what I needed
most. I am happy to pay on the basis of the info already provided!

Hello Spitfire,

Thank you for accepting my comment as the official answer.

It appears that the song you’re referring to is Television Generation
a 1977 single by the Kursaal Flyers. You can read more about them

The Kursaal Flyers, a British band started in mid 1975 and broke up
in 1977. Out of the members, only Will Birch and John Wicks stayed
active and they formed the Records.

I was waiting for bobbie7-ga to release this question, hoping that I
had found an answer that she had not. But she has found the same
answer that I have. Even though I can't find the additional lyrics
either, I feel quite sure that bobbie7-ga has located the song you
want.

request on the message board might garner a response from a group
member or from a fan who has the album.
