Hello magicaunt-ga,

Here is the list of cities in Los Angeles County in 1890, in order of
incorporation:

Los Angeles
Pasadena
Santa Monica
Monrovia
Pomona
Long Beach
South Pasadena
San Pedro
Compton

(Note: Long Beach was incorporated in 1888, disincorporated in 1896,
and reincorporated in 1897. Also, San Pedro was incorporated in 1888,
but was consolidated with the City of Los Angeles in 1909.)

I hope that this information is helpful.

Search strategy:

Searched on Google for:

"cities in los angeles" pasadena

Searched on new Los Angeles County site ( http://lacounty.info/ ) for:

incorporated

[I also tried several other searches on Google, but the search that I
have listed ultimately resulted in the page I have cited.]

I was under the impression that some cities that are currently in
Orange County (i.e., Santa Ana) were part of L.A. County in 1890. Is
this possible?

Orange County, including Santa Ana, was created out of a portion of
Los Angeles County in 1889.

I do not see any indication on Orange County's web site or other sites
on Orange County history that this county took any cities away from
Los Angeles County after 1889. Rather, new cities were incorporated
within Orange County.
