I'm looking for the full text of 2 Poe items:

1) There is a story, I believe by E A Poe, of a game of hide and seek
in which 2 brothers participate, and one brother hides in the closet.
He ends up dying of fear.

2) A poem, perhaps called "The Raven", about a sly raven?

Thanks in advance

Hello hofferino,

1) After extensive searching, I was unable to find a story like this
by Poe, but I did find a story that hopefully is the one you are
looking for:
“This story is narrated by a young boy who is observing his twin
brother, Francis, as he expresses his extreme fear of the dark.
Francis tries hard to avoid attending a children's party because he
knows the plan is to play hide-and-seek in the dark. He pretends to
have a cold, tells his parents and his nanny that he does not want to
go, but is forced to attend anyway. When the lights are turned out for
this game, Francis is literally scared to death. His brother tries to
comfort Francis by touching his arm, only to find that was the final
unendurable anguish for his petrified sibling. When the lights are
turned back on, the adults find Francis dead.” The author of this
story is Graham Greene and this story was first published in 1929.

The search that led me to this on Google was: "hide and seek" game
brother OR brothers die OR dies OR dying fear

I tried dozens of searches with combinations of the above and similar
stings adding Poe, but was unable to turn up anything that seemed to
be the story you were looking for. I therefore suspect that Poe did
not write a story like this, and am hoping that this is the story you
are looking for. Here is a book that has this short story in it:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140186123/qid=1051849030/br=1-7/ref=br_lf_b_7//104-5189076-7170354?v=glance&s=books&n=70296

I was unable to find this story available for free online, so it
probably is not in the public domain yet. I wasn’t able to find a
downloadable ebook for purchase that contained this short story
either.

2) You can find this poem here:
http://www.heise.de/ix/raven/Literature/Lore/TheRaven.html (this is
one of my favorite poems)

I hope this was the type of answer you were expecting when you asked
the question originally. Please let me know if you require any
clarification and I will do my best to further assist you.

Right on! Those were exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why
I thought "The End of the Party" was by Poe. I heard it on a tape
once; it must be available as a recorded book. If you, or anyone else,
come across its text, I would still appreciate having it!
