I'm searching for a specific Dilbert comic on the subject
of cubicle moves. I don't remember where I saw it, but it's
at least a few years old. As I recall, it depicts an employee
dressed as a chess piece (a pawn, I think) moving his stuff
from his cubicle, while another employee protests something
to the effect of "you are not allowed to move on a diagonal!".

A link to the image, or book title & page number are acceptable.
A text-only description or transcript of the strip is not sufficient.

atr,

Unfortunately, I'm separated from my books for a couple hours, but
since I know that strip was a Sunday strip, I can tell you that it is
definitely in the book "Dilbert - A Treasury of Sunday Strips: Version
00"

I'll check for the page number when I get home...

atr,

Actually, the strip in question was not in the "Dilbert - A Treasury
of Sunday Strips: Version 00" book as I expected. However, I did find
it in another book, "Fugitive From The Cubicle Police" The comic is
the Sunday strip from November 27th, 1994 on page 193. The punchline
is "You Can Only Move To A Diagonal Cubicle."

Hope the enjoyment of reading this strip matches the anticipation!

Can you tell me what page of "The Dilbert Principle" it appears in?

atr,

Unfortunately, that books seems to be left at work, so it will take a
few days for me to find the answer to that question. Although I would
recommend looking at the "Fugitive From The Cubicle Police" book if
you can find it, since that strip is printed in color.

One more thing, my copy of The Dilbert Principle is the paperback
edition. If you own the hardcover version, the page numbers may well
be different between the two.

Hi again,

I found the comic in question on page 31 of my paperback copy of The
Dilbert Principle. It was found in Chapter 2: Humiliation, as an
illustration within the section of Dress Clothes.

This strip also appeared in "The Dilbert Principle", the book that
basically made Scott Adams famous...

Another book with this cartoon is Seven Years of Highly Defective
People (Kansas City: Andrews & McMeel, 1997), p. 57.

Scott Adams comments there, "This exact thing happened to me, not
counting the attractive outfit."
