Hi! Just wondering How many times a day does an average person blink? How much work does the human body do when both eyes blink at the same time (expressed in joules)? When breathing normally, how many breaths does the average person take in the average day? How much work does the average person do when taking an average breath (expressed in joules)? How many times a day does the average persons heart beat? How much work does the average persons body do in a single heartbeat (expressed in joules)? * * *A joule is the International System unit of electrical, mechanical, and thermal energy* * * Thanks! It may not be productive to try to analyse the 'energy consumption at rest' in terms of visible activities (heartbeat ..) as big portion od it (brain, heat regulation) is not mechanical. Total consumption at rest is about 100W - for humans For fish: Consumption = Respiration + Waste + Growth For carnivores: 100 = 44 + 27 + 29 For herbivores: 100 = 37 + 43 + 20 is given by http://limnology.wisc.edu/research/bioenergetics/energetics_overview.html |
