I am having problem with my Volume Control on WIN98 SE and IE SP1,
the volume is ok when I am first using Compuserve (my ISP),
when I close the program and I open WORD97 to create or revise some files,
then I close WORD97 and reopen Compuserve, now I can barely hear the volume.
This happens all the times, I keep setting the slider to high on "MIDI OUT
CONTROL", but it keeps dropping halfway down, when I change programs ?
How do I solve this problem?

Hi,
In order to help you I need to know which sound card and other
accessories you have.
in separate time you can check your Device Manager or System
information to see if there is any conflict.

Hi Hat ~

I had the same problem with my volume control, and after updating the
drivers, the volume control (and more importantly, the volume level)
stayed where I put it and quit moving around.

I found drivers for your sound card here:

You might check the dates of your drivers and see if they are older
than these, and if they are, try updating them to the newer drivers.

Hope this helps,
Serenata

Updating drivers for the sound card would be the first resort, but
often when volume levels jump around, it means there is preset volume
level settings in other programs that always change the volume to be
the same level as when last used.

For example, you're playing your music in Winamp at a certain volume,
and the levels are where you like them, but you close winamp, open
your dvd program, and the volume levels change because the dvd program
has it's own settings for the volume (usually whatever you left them
last time you used the program) and thus changes your levels for you
to be like the settings in the dvd program. You would notice the
changes the next time you open your volume control or music program.

The only problem is... I can't imagine there is settings in word for
volume levels. Is there any other programs that you open that have
this same senario?

Try setting your midi volume to high before opening Compuserve, then
after you've used it, and before opening anything else, check your
volume levels to see if it's compuserve that's changing the levels, or
whether it's other programs...
