Hi cm746,

After extensive research, I have located a poem entitled “Gallipoli”.
It is both written and translated into English by Bulent Ecevit.

The following is an excerpt of this poem:

“"What land were you torn away from
what makes you so sad having come here"
asked Mehmet the soldier from Anatolia
addressing the Anzak lying near 

"FROM THE UTTERMOST ENDS OF THE WORD I come 
so it writes on my tombstone"
answered the youthful Anzak "and here I am
buried in land that I had not even known"…”
