Is this one lyric ("give it away and can't even remember the name") or
two ("give it away" and "can't even remember the name")?  Something
doesn't sound right about "give it away and can't even remember the
name" -- it doesn't sound like part of a sentence or, therefore, a
lyric ("I want to give it away and can't even remember the name"??).

Do you recall any other lyrics, or the style of the song, or anything
else about it?

i apologize about the confusion.  the song i am looking for has that
quote in one of the lines.  it is a pop alternative kind of song. 
that quote is in the same song in the same line. the exact lyric is
something like "you give it away and can't even remember his (their?)
name"

the lyric now that i remember it correctly is 'you save yourself for
