I am a 21 year old High School grad. with A.D.D. I care about people
and know I'll make a good police officer if given the chance. My
testing skills are weak and I need assistance in prepareing for the
province wide police/apptitude test. Are there programs or tutors you
can find that specialize in helping someone like me? Can I get old
tests to study? Is H.S. education enough to be cocidered? Can I do
anything to 'stand out' (in a good way) on the application? My testing
 scores are never, 'outstanding'...HELP!!!

The test is sort of like the SAT's, in that there's only a "general"
"brain exercising" method to get prepared for it.

There's no calculator usage on it, so you'll have to brush up on your
basic math skills.

Speed is what counts. You're judged on the total number right that
you get. Keep going if you can't get something done.

A rep from the department suggests that you go to the library and get
some general aptitude tests. Also check out "Reader's Digest" Word
Power tests to brush up on vocabulary skills. Also check out Barron's
Police Exam book at 911hotjobs:

hired:

Check out this information on the hiring process:

You'll have to take a prep test:

"The Constable Selection System – Orientation and Pre-Test Guide will
give you an understanding of the assessment process, testing tips and
practice exercises. Please visit the Ministry of Public Safety and
Security website [ http://www.mpss.jus.gov.on.ca/english/police_serv/const_select_sys/info_selection.html
] to access the guide."

After completing and submitting your registration package you will be
contacted by recruitment staff regarding test dates. Upon successful
completion of the testing you will be issued a C.O.R.

Once you have been issued a C.O.R. you can apply to the O.P.P., please
refer to the O.P.P. Application Package [

Thank you for your effort. You provided me with tons of good
conections for info. The one thing I wish you had come up with was a
tutor or mentor to guide me. My guess is that there isn't that kind of
help out there. Thanks again, onward and upward Excelcior!
