Hello alroebelenii,

The singer to whom you refer is Aled Jones, who was born in Wales on
December 29, 1970. He has his own web site at
http://www.aledjones.co.uk/ His career as a boy soprano started when
he was 12 and continued until his voice broke when he was 16. Perhaps
his best known recording of that time is the theme song of the film
“The Snowman” (Walking in the Air). Taking the advice of a famous
tenor, Stuart Burrows, not to sing for five years after his voice
broke, he then disappeared from view for a while, becoming a
county-level tennis player and studying at the Royal Academy of Music.
He had some experience as an actor and then began a career as a TV
and radio presenter. Recently, however, he begin to feel that he was
getting back a proper singing voice and has become a regular presenter
and performer on the Sunday BBC TV show “Songs of Praise” and on
Sunday mornings presents a show on the Classic fm radio station. He
can sing countertenor, but he calls his “new voice” a high baritone.

If you go to his web site and select “Music”, you can hear extracts
from his new album (unfortunately the web site does not appear to have
a section listing his albums with titles!).

You can read an interview with Aled Jones at

There do not appear to be any DVDs of Aled Jones. A video of Christmas
carols, called “The New Born King” was released in 1986.

Search strategy: None really, because I knew of Aled Jones, so I just
searched on his name.
