Question ID: 199151
1- If a 4-stroke medium-speed diesel engine is designed to run on
distillate fuel (i.e. diesel oil) what modifications does it it need
so it can be run on residual heavy fuel?

2- What is the price of the following three lubricating oils:
- SAE30 with BN of 10
- SAE30 with BN of 16
- SAE30 with BN of 30

3- What exactly whould happen if we reduce the amount of CYLINDER
lubricating oil of a diesel engine (I need about 10 different and
specific things that could happen)

4- Finally I need a list of URLs of web sites (as much as you can
find) about the MAN B&W's ALPHA cylinder lubrication system that is
claimed to reduce the amount of cylinder lube oil consumption but has
no effect on the cylinder liner wear..Can you try to find web sites
that explain the costs of retrofitting this systems.

Can you please include in-line references within your answer of each
question
i.e. the URLs of the web sites used.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your question. My father is a marine engineer
and is very knowledgable in these matters. However your question as
such might not elicit a favourable response. I request you to kindly
consider reposting each question seperately (after cancelling this one
of course) so that I can get the research done individually. You might
consider reposting them at 20$ a piece as you have priced these four
questions at a collective value of 80$.

Thank you for understanding.

Warmest Regards,
Shiv Reddy

Hi,

I also wish to add that for questions 1 and 3, there are no specific
sites or links that can provide you with the complete answer. However
I can give you the answer based on what I have learnt by speaking to
my father (who has served as a chief engineering for over 15 years
now). Will that be acceptable as an answer?

Please let me know and I will post the information for you
immediately.

Warmest Regards,
Shiv Reddy

Hi Shiv,
Sure, I will do as you requested..regarding questions 1,3 I fully
understand what you mean and I will happily accept an answer from a
Chief Engineer as long as the answers are comprehensive, it would be
nice if you include some URLs of the web sites that have discuessed
the subject, as well. I guess that his advice will be valuble in
question 4.
