I am trying to find out what the State of Florida guidelines are for
holding girls volleyball practices at a high school during the off
season. All I have been able to determine is that an organized
practice is not allowed until a certain date (in August). I am looking
for specifics on what constitutes an "organized practice" and what a
coach's role is during the off season in a practice situation. Can
they run drills, can a ball be involved, can they take attendance,
etc. I am also looking for any information on coaches penalizing
student athletes for conflicting academic priorities. Example ...a
student may be asked to leave a team because they cannot be at a
non-mandatory practice due to studying for exams.
