I'm looking for a verb in Brazilian Portuguese. the verb is "saldaji". I'm unsure if i have spelt it correctly but it means "the feeling of missing someone". I'd like to know whether this verb actually exists? how is it spelt correctly? What does it mean in brazilian portuguese? what is it's alternate in english (if there is one)? |

Hello osi-ga, The verb is "saudade", described as being pronounced "sau-da-dji" or "sawdadji". It is apparently difficult to translate, but does mean something like "the feeling of missing" someone or something. One attempt to explain this word states: 'The word "saudade" is unstranslatable. It is "longing", "yearning", "homesickness" and "blues" combined, and more. Basically, it is a feeling of missing something very much, particurly intense, and often associated with things you'll never see again, like college days or youth days, or dead people and faraway places.'
