Question ID: 200212
I am looking for a vendor who benchmarks the beverage industry and
specifically provides information on the indirect labor cost as a
percentage of sales. This information may be embedded in the
manufacturing overhead where you would find items such as the
breakdown of cost by salary, administration, etc.

Hi! If the benchmarking report you want is this specific, I think you
will be better off with taking on the services of industry
consultants.

I was able to find consultants, which specifically benchmarks the food
and beverage industry in accordance to the needs of their clients.
Would this be accepted as a legitimate answer?

Just let me know. :)

For the beverage industry I am interested in the overhead cost in
manufacturing particularly the labor cost as a percentage of sales.
The information is most likely embedded in a breakdown of the overhead
costs along with items such as cost for product development,
administration, IT, etc. Most the time this type of overhead cost
breakdown is found in a benchmarking study. I have found one for food
& beverage combined but was hoping to find information for beverage
only. If you can find combined food & beverage benchmarking data I
would be happy with that - if it has labor cost.

Thanks! :)

Maryo --

You might want to clarify whether or not you want a benchmarking study
of the beverage industry.

I was actually planning to contact a consulting firm today re: the
beverage industry, as I'm certain that they've done the type of study
you're seeking. However, the danger in this approach is that EVERY
consulting firm will try to benchmark certain cost numbers across your
industry -- so it would really offer nothing unique.

Best regards,
