Is there a way to find out the selling price for properties in NYC by
searching with the property's address? I know real estate brokers
have access to this information, so I know it is being compiled
somewhere...TIA!

Ewek1-ga,

Is this what you're looking for?
http://www.domania.com/

Just enter an address and press "Get Prices" to get home sales
in your neighborhood from 1987 to the present.

Thanks

Bobbie7-
This is close, but it looks like it's more for comparable prices
rather than the price of a specific unit. It also doesn't list
apartemnt numbers, so in Manhattan, it's not really that useful!
Please let me know if you have any other ideas.

Not an expert... but my recollection from reading newspaper articles
in Suffolk County, NY, is that when a property changes hands, it
requires a tax stamp, and the amount of the tax stamp for a property
is a matter of public record. Though I don't think the tax stamp is
tightly calibrated to the amount of the sale, I think it is related in
a way that you can bracket the amount of the sale into moderately
useful ranges. I think I've seen notices like this in the East
Hampton Star. Probbably official adversements in other newspapers in
NY state would have similar information. Just a thought
