Is there a way to find out the selling price for properties in NYC by searching with the property's address? I know real estate brokers have access to this information, so I know it is being compiled somewhere...TIA! | |

Not an expert... but my recollection from reading newspaper articles in Suffolk County, NY, is that when a property changes hands, it requires a tax stamp, and the amount of the tax stamp for a property is a matter of public record. Though I don't think the tax stamp is tightly calibrated to the amount of the sale, I think it is related in a way that you can bracket the amount of the sale into moderately useful ranges. I think I've seen notices like this in the East Hampton Star. Probbably official adversements in other newspapers in NY state would have similar information. Just a thought |
