Question ID: 200812
Where can I buy any record(s) by, or featuring, this English
(Yorkshire-based) singer? Not a star name, but known to have made some
records (probably 78's and probably dance band or big band, almost
certainly recorded in England rather than USA).

Many thanks to journalist, but I believe "my" Billy Pritchard is
around 80 today, hence the reference to 1940's. Gene Kardos looks to
be early 1930's and NY based.

Greetings Pearlsasin:

At http://www.wfuv.org/wfuv/playlists/big020929.html I located the
reference "32. Billy Pritchard w/Gene Kardos Orch, The Merry-Go-Round
Broke Down, (Melotone 78)"

It may be possible he was featured on the Kardos orchestra recording
but not identified. However, I could locate no Kardos Melotone
recordings online.

A search of "Melotone records" turned up a Russian site but I do not
read Russian. It is possible another Researcher will be able to help
you and I offer this information to assist them in answering your
query.

Best regards,
journalist-ga
