I am looking for information on the kinds of security countermeasures
that are being used at places like the US mint, and other high
security facilities, in as much detail as possible. Fort Knox, the
mints, the treasury, the fanciest museums, etc. As many links as
possible about a variety of places would be extremely helpful! |

I don't think anybody can find the specific info you are seeking
regarding the security systems of the US mint, Fort Knox, and other
important institutions and places. Good security always involves
confidentiality. Publishing this kind of information, especially on
the Internet, would be akin to putting up a good security system in an
area and telling the whole world where you put those security
measures. That would certainly render your security system useless
because those with harmful intentions can plan ahead on how to get
around or beat those systems.
Would you rather settle for a list of various security systems
instead?

I know - this is exactly the problem I have encountered. I was hoping
a more experienced researcher would help. I think there was a
documentary on the mint inside West Point, for instance, that
discussed some of the security measures, but I cannot find it. I need
that kind of material - specifics about those kinds of locations. Do
you think there is no hope?

Hi and thanks for your reply. As I implied earlier, confidentiality is
an important part of a good security system. Even if you are able to
obtain a coy of the documentary you were saying, I'm sure the info
you'll get will not be the whole story. Some important parts will
never be shown to the public. Even if you get a more experienced
researcher and he/she is able to obtain the complete data, Google
Answers prohibits us from posting classified information. This domain
is accessible to the public so such information can be readily
accessed and exploited by malevolent individuals.
I'm going to release my lock on your question because I'm quite sure
that no law-abiding researcher here can help you with the kind of
information that you seek -- even if they know such information first
hand.
