Hi, I need information on rebranding theories the links should contain
the complete theory or a summary of it.
Also I need links to recent (1998-2001) cases of succesfull or
unsuccesful rebranding attempts either of companies or products
(preferably cases that took place in Europe).
All cases should be available online.
Thank's in advance for your help.

What exactly do you mean by "rebranding theory"? Do you want opinions
from various quarters as to whether it is or is not a good thing?

Hi! I was able to find a definition and discussions on rebranding but
it seems it doesn't have a particular theory. Would the discussions
and definition be enough?

I was also able to find a lot of examples of companies who went
through the process of rebranding.

Please tell me if this would be enough and be accepted as a legitimate
answer?

:)

For tehuti-ga: No, your suggestion is nowhere near to what I am
looking for thanks for your consideration.

Easterangel's answer is much closer to what I'm looking for and even
though I know there is no particular theory on rebranding I need at
least three or four suggested theories that are widely accepted.

Further on regarding the examples if at least three or four of them
concern UK companies I'd be willing to accept your answer.

thanks.

Hi. I cannot really find any reference to a re-branding theory or any
citation to such a concept. Furthermore, what is the criteria for the
theory to be considered as "widely accepted"?

If you like I will provide you with the examples. Would you also
accept them if most of them are not from the UK since most of the
studies are from the US? I was only able to find a few studies from
the UK.

Again just let me know. :)

"widely accepted": to be discussed in a textbook, article or case
study by an academic or professional either in Public Relations,
advertising or marketing.

All examples are accepted as long as you give me at least three or
four UK ones I'm covered.

thanks for your help.

Hello Lifer, thanks for your question.
Easterangel was gracious to let me answer this after I showed him the
information I had collected. Many thanks to him.

Since you asked for links, I collected links from around the Internet
on your topic. There wasn’t one single source I saw that explained the
concept of rebranding, though there were many pages with tips and
opinions on how to do it right, as well as discussions on the concept.
I decided to go with those and listed them below. The theories you
need I suppose can be picked up from them:

Discussions of the concept:
