"if this application is run on a computer outside the sony vaio
series, some functionality may not be available code=(3)" I have what
appears to be the latest version of these Sony programs downloaded,
but they won't open up. This happens with Picturegear 4.0,labelmaker;

Howdy tmvinc!

As for your question 1, I am giving an educated guess that you
won't find a Windows 2000 driver for the DCR-P100.

As for your question 2, I am giving an educated guess that you
won't be able to get them to open.

From the Sony web site.
http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/pc/pcgxg9/windows2000/info.html

"Please note the applications and utilities that shipped with the
Sony VAIO computers were designed for use with the Sony-installed
version of Windows 98. Sony DOES NOT support the operation of these
software programs under the Windows 2000 operating system. The Sony
System and Application Recovery CDs that shipped with these computers
will not work with Windows 2000."

"Many of the special features of the Sony VAIO computers were
designed for the Windows 98 operating system environment. Not
all of the special features of computers that shipped with
Windows 98 will be supported under Windows 2000."

"NOTE: Not all of the Windows 98/98SE utilities and applications
(such as Sony DVgate, MovieShaker, and PictureGear) will be
available for download for Windows 2000. If it is necessary to
continue using these applications, you may find it necessary to
leave Windows 98/98SE installed on the system. Please be aware
that this configuration is not supported by either Sony or
Microsoft."

If you haven't already, you really should read all of the entries
on this Sony Vaio Computer Support PCG-XG9 "Upgrading To Windows
2000 Professional" web page.
http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/pc/pcgxg9/windows2000/

"Welcome to the Windows® 2000 Professional Upgrade page for the
Sony PCG-XG9 VAIO® Notebooks!"

Looks like Sony is not doing any back support for Windows 2000.
You might seriously consider going back to Windows 98 SE, at
least as long as you have the Sony Vaio PCG-XG9.

Search Strategy:

Went to the Sony web site at http://www.sony.com and went through
their support information.

Looking Forward, denco-ga
