I would like a manual on the use of Creative Wave Studio, similar to
those supplied by H.P.for their printers and scanners. Is there one
on-line or else a book giving an illustrated guide to the manipulation
and editing of Wave files? I do have Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 but
the facilities in it do not allow fine editing of scratches, for
instance.

Hi.
Creative has this FAQ for WaveStudio on its web site, but it's not
very detailed:
http://www.americas.creative.com/support/faq/faqresults.asp?Centric=17&faqsub=361

This web page from Seattle University offers some basic editing
instructions for WaveStudio:
http://www.seattleu.edu/it/findit/articles/6206525504.html

Oddly enough, the most detailed instruction manual for Creative
WaveStudio (Windows version) is available for download on the web site
of Apple Computer. It's in PDF format, so you'll need the Adobe
Acrobat reader. Here's the file:
http://manuals.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Manuals/software/0340177USINGPCSOUND.PDF

I hope this helps. Good luck.

This web page from Utah State offers some tips on digitizing and
mixing sound files using WaveStudio:
http://www.usu.edu/sanderso/multinet/wavstdig.html

Also, there may be additional information about WaveStudio in the
manual of the specific Soundblaster card that you're using. For more
information, visit:

The answer is a very good start in directing me towards my goal of
learning more about the techniques to be used in Creative Wave Studio
