Hello arctic1-ga,

CO2 (carbon dioxide) has a wide range of uses. Here are a few lists
of uses:

"Some uses for carbon dioxide are for fire extinguishing, for beverage
dispensing, as a shielding gas for welding, for food freezing and as
dry ice (in solid form)."

Gas Turbine Generators / Diesel Generators / Oil Quelching / Paint
Spray Booths / Transformer Vaults / Hydraulic Oil Cellars / Rolling
Mills / Record Storage / Hydo-Electric Generators / Fur Storage Vaults
/ Dip Tanks / Newspaper Production / Oil Circuit Breakers / Food
Processing."

FUEL INJECTORS & AUTOMOTIVE PARTS
SMALL DIAMETER TUBING
PRECISION BEARINGS & GYROSCOPES
POLYMERIC SUBSTRATES
CERAMIC, GLASS & SILICON SUBSTRATES
WELDING TIPS

If you need any particular information extracted from the additional
pages that I cited, please let me know in a clarification. I figured
that you might want to skim the pages yourself, but I would be happy
to compile some sort of list if you need me to do so.

thankyou for your prompt attention to my co2 question...I found most
of those sites before. It was my hope that you could find a list that
would say (eg: textile industry uses co2 in the fabric dyeing process)

It would not be too difficult to compile such a list using those
pages. Would you like me to do that for you?

yes it could be what i am looking for thanks again

OK, I will work on this. I may not be able to complete it today --
I'm going to be away from the computer for much of the day -- but it
should be done by tomorrow.

In addition to the ones that you have listed, here are uses of C02 in
various industries:

Fire equipment industry for fire supression
Tire manufacturing industry (dry ice) for cleaning tire mold sidewalls
Chemical industry for polymerization, solvent replacement, etc.
Dry cleaning industry as solvent
Pulp and paper industry for controlling pH levels, washing, etc.
Oil and gas industry for enhanced oil recovery
Agriculture for making urea (nitrogen fertilizer)
Pharmaceutical industry for making salicytic acid (used in medicines)
Perfume industry (supercritical CO2) for extracting perfume from
flowers
Food and beverage industry (supercritical CO2) for extracting caffeine
from coffee beans, fat from processed snack foods, and flavor oils
from hops
Semiconductor manufacturing industry (supercritical CO2) for wafer
drying, cleaning, photoresist stripping, etc.

Incidentally, I made a mistake with one of the links. The page
entitled "BOC Secondary Recovery and Enhanced Oil Recovery" is at:
http://www.boc.com/htmls/oil_recovery/secondary_and_eor.cfm

Sorry, that should be "salicylic acid", not "salicytic acid"
