I need EXCELLENT XSLT tutorials/references available straight off the
web.

The purpose is to learn XSLT as fast as possible.

Good resources will probably include:

*Good examples of keywords so that you understand how it's used in
context.
*Good examples of "tricky" parts of the language that nobody is really
telling you but the experienced user/programmer sure has to know.
*Fast reference to the whole language
*Good tutorial that will take you through a major XSLT effort step by
step so that you see how it's used in "real life".

I want resources on the line of an XSLT programmer saying that "this
stuff really helped me sort this language out and get me fluent in
it".

Hi, omnitemm-ga:

I'm wondering if you are still interested in an answer to this
question. What makes an excellent tutorial depends largely on the
background of the student. So it would be helpful if you would sketch
your familiarity with XML as well as with programming languages and
systems generally.

Providing a selection of good XSLT references is perhaps the easier
part of the question. XSLT depends on XPath in an essential way, so
to the extent one is starting from scratch, the tutorial and reference
materials will need to cover both standards.

Finally it should be noted that XSLT, because of its recursive
applications across the entire XML "tree", is essentially a creature
of DOM (Document Object Model) manipulations. SAX, with its
simplified "pass-through" access to the XML document, cannot readily
support an XSLT implementation.

Personally, I would start with
http://www.zvon.org/xxl/XSLTutorial/Books/Output/contents.html
When searching for XSLT and tutorial -- Google made it come up first.
Top Google ranking can mean a number of things, but in this case I
believe it's because the tutorial is actually well-regarded.

The book mentioned above has more sample pages on the Manning site,
plus it is also available as an ebook just in case you change your
mind.

Not a Google Researcher, just interested in an easy to learn XSLT as
well.

This probably won't help you, but the mere mention of Scheme just made
it click for me. Scheme was the first language I truly learned and
yet I never realized how close to each other those two really were.
