Where can I find a complete (or as much as possible) list of
ISBN/Title/Author/Edition of in print books, particularly college
books?I understand there are thousands of publishers out there, but I
do not believe bookstores(online or otherwise) constantly contact
those to get said information. Any information on how bookstores keep
up to date on all the new publishings would be nice as well.
I also need to be able to DOWNLOAD this data and view it in an excel
spreadsheet, the final use of the data is to enter it into a database.
The souce should preferably a free site, or a low fee site. |

I've run across www.booksinprint.com , but they do not allow to
download the data as I'd like, and serve more as a reference.

There is no central depot where you're going to get this information
for free, or for a "low fee."
I don't believe there is any source, other than Bowker's
www.booksinprint.com that does this on a comprehensive, exhaustive
level [for US books only]. However, the data is in proprietary format
on a CD for $1,795. There are over 2.7 million records as of right
now. Many libraries and bookstores use this resource.
They would be willing to cut a custom deal with you for probably
$10,000 per year for you to access the data in delimited format. You
could load that data into your own database.
Please let me know if this resource will work for you.

well, your answer is that there is no answer to my question, which it
is an answer so I don't waste my time trying to find that ellusive
resource. I reckon that is a good thing. However, I don't feel the
list price is really worth the results. Is there a way I can award a
lesser amount for the info provided?

Yeah, just reduce the payment for the question and post a
clarification request telling Jbf777-ga that you'll accept what
already has been posted as an answer. Jbf777-ga can then paste in what
he/she has already written and make that the answer.
