I am looking for chewable high-potency multivitamins. I like Centrum
chewables, but they have no more than 100% of the MINIMUM
recommendation. GNC has plenty of high potency multis, but no
chewables. I am male in the United States.

Hello nelson,

The difficulty is that since most chewable formulations are targeted
at children, the doses tend to stay on the safe side, ie do not go
above 100% RDA. However, I have found the following three
possibilities:

1. Chewable MultiVitamins and Minerals 90 Tablets by Pioneer

Claims to be: “Overall highest potency chewable multivitamin/mineral
available”

I compared the quantities per one tablet:
One Pioneer tablet contains less of vitamins A, D, E and folic acid
than one Centrum tablet. The other vitamins are present in larger
quantities even in one tablet, and the recommended dosage for Pioneer
is 2-6 tablets daily. Pioneer also contains a greater selection of
minerals. The recommended dosage for Centrum is one tablet daily, and
it would be inadvisable to take more, because vitamin D is present at
100% RDA in one tablet. It is toxic in high doses, which is why the
amount is low relative to other ingredients in high potency
formulations. Therefore, Pioneer at the dosage recommend by the
manufacturer would supply a much greater quantity of vitamins, except
for D.
Centrum also contains vitamin K, and Pioneer does not.

Pioneer lists the quantity and % RDA for 6 tablets --- 2 tablets:

- Vitamin A (67% as beta carotene, 33% retinyl palmitate) 22,500 IU /
450% --- 7,500 IU / 150%
- Vitamin C 600mg / 1000% --- 200mg / 333%
- Vitamin D-3 300 IU / 75% --- 100 IU / 25%
- Vitamin E (d alpha tocopheryl succinate) 150 IU / 500% --- 50 IU /
167%
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 24mg / 1600% --- 8mg / 533%
- Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 24mg / 1400% --- 8mg / 467%
- Niacin (niacinamide:niacin 3:1) 120mg / 600% --- 40mg / 200%
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl) 30mg / 1500% --- 10mg / 500%
- Folic Acid 900mcg / 225% --- 300mcg / 75%
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 60mcg / 1000% --- 20mcg / 333%
- Biotin 300mcg / 100% --- 100mcg / 33%
- Pantothenic Acid (D-calcium pantothenate) 150mg / 1500% --- 50mg /

2. Country Life Chewable Wafers

The ingredients are listed per wafer, and the recommended daily dose
is 2 wafers.
Again comparing just one wafer with one tablet of Centrum, one wafer
contains less of vitamin D and folic acid than one Centrum tablet, and
equal amounts of niacin and pantothenic acid. Taking the recommended
2 wafers daily, you would double the quantity of niacin and
pantothenic acid and have substatially more of all other vitamins,
except D. The wafers would provide 100 IU of vitamin D compared to
the 400 IU in a Centrum tablet. Centrum also contains vitamin K, and
Country Life does not.

3. Quest Adults Chewable Multivitamins & Ester-C

and folic acid, and equal amounts of pantothenic acid. Again, the
Quest tablets do not contain vitamin K, while Centrum does.
Otherwise, all other vitamins are present in greater quantities.

Have you considered liquid products? Here is one I found:

“Super Multi is a combination vitamin and mineral formula offering
high potencies of 15 vitamins (only K was omitted because it
interferes with some medications), in a powerful 42% fulvic acid base
of approximately 74 plant derived complexed and dissolved minerals.
The formula also contains amino acids, enzymes and antioxidants, plus
siberian Ginseng and ginkgo biloba extract. Because Super Multi is in
liquid form, it is 98% bio-available. This means it is over 50% more
absorbable than tablets.”
