Greetings Maddoglee:

This proved an interesting and educational question for me. Also, I
happen to be a Crenna fan. The film is referred to as "Doubletake"
and "Double Take" and E!online lists the following about each:

Doubletake
Category: Drama
Director: Jud Taylor
Cast: Beverly D'Angelo, Richard Crenna, Paul Gleason, Cliff Gorman,
Drew Snyder, Vincent Baggetta
Running Time: 3 hr 20 mins
Country: United States
Summary:
A detective confronts disturbing truths about the human capacity for
depravity while investigating a double murder

Double Take
Category: Drama
Director: Jud Taylor
Cast: Beverly D'Angelo, Richard Crenna, Paul Gleason, Cliff Gorman,
Lee Richardson, Vincent Baggetta
Running Time: 2 hr 55 mins
Country: United States
Summary:
A New York detective must solve a brutal double homicide case while
battling corruption in the police department

Same cast but different running times and plot descriptions. I
thought that was interesting. E! also lists what appears to be
Crenna's complete filmography at
http://www.eonline.com/Facts/People/0,12,3729,00.html - oddly,
E!Online showed the VHS box of a film called DoubleTake *but* it is
not the same movie you are looking for. Same title but a different
cast and a different script.

Originally a CBS miniseries, Doubletake was made in 1985. Both
E!Online and the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) have no
information about this movie being available on VHS or DVD. I'm sure
other Researchers have discovered this because the question was locked
for a while before I could comment.

Another Researcher may be able to find it for you and I hope you are
able to locate it - I just thought you'd like to know that someone's
been trying. :)

Best regards,
journalist-ga

According to www.blockbuster.com, the movie isn't available for rent
or purchase. However, this "Entertainment Insider" site:

http://www.einsiders.com/features/columns/jan03obituaries.php

notes that "Doubletake" is often shown on Lifetime and Court TV
networks. You may want to e-mail both networks to find when the film
will air again, so you can tape it for your personal collection.

You can also try searching various tape trading groups to see if
anyone has a copy of it.

This probably won't be the version you want, but nevertheless I'll mention it.
