I am looking for artist or group who recorded the following song in
the (I think) early 1970s, what album it might be on, and who wrote
it. I heard the song a few times on the radio but could not locate it
at the time. (I lived in a small town and did not have access to a
large record store.) Some of the lyrics were as follows (with the
possibility some were misheard):

I was lost and could not find my feet
'Til you came and took me off the street
You said your home would be my own
There was almost nothing there to eat
Still you have me what you had
Some coffee and a little sweet
And afterwards we had some wine
You said you'd had since '59
********************* forever
And talked about our lives together

Angel, do you remember lovin' me?
I'm the boy from Tennessee
Angel, I'm asking everyone I see
If they know where you could be
I'll be waiting on the corner
Sunset Strip and Vine
Just a block north of the Greyhound
You know it's getting late
And I'm running out of time

I would love to find this song.

Someone else remembers this song, with these slightly different
opening lyrics:

"'I was down and couldn't find my feet,
When you came and took me off the street.'"

Unfortunately, no one provided any further information about the song,
and I have seen no other reference to it. Perhaps you can contact the
person who wrote this message, or post a follow-up meessage, to see if
you can solve this mystery.
