The short answer is: as with the citizens they are bound to serve and protect, they should be held accountable for their actions. |

there are only 2 100% effective ways to prevent police misconduct: 1: eliminate the police. 2: Change the definition of the term misconduct to be defined as "whatever a policeman (or woman) does not do". In seriousness however, I agree with cynthia to say that it would be required for them to be held accountable for their actions. |
