How do I setup secure SSL ODBC connections from several clients on DSL connections to a mySQL database server running on Windows 2000? The server is running Windows 2000 Server and mySQL 3.23.55-nt. I can upgrade to mySQL 4 if I need to. The clients are Windows 2000 and Windows XP connected with ODBC. I need specific instructions on how to make the connections secure. |

Hi, The best way, and only way I've ever gotten it to work, is using port forwarding with SSH. On the MySQL website manual, there is a page that describes how to do this setup, step by step. MySQL Manual | 2.6.2.4 Connecting to a Remove MySQL from Windows with SSH http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Windows_and_SSH.html Referance and Interest Links MySQL and ODBC http://www.devshed.com/Server_Side/MySQL/ODBC/page1.html Another set of instructions Instructions for SSL setup http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-odbc/2001-09/msg00040.php S/ODBC (?) Watch out for these, they use the same as above http://www.commandprompt.com/entry.lxp?lxpe=142 Thanks, webadept-ga |
