Dear mumumbutu,
Thank you for your question. Before I'll start, let me clarify, that
Google Answers is not linked with the Google Index, and I am not a
Google employee. I am, though, sort of an expert on search engine
submission, and in particular in Google submission.
In order to understand how to be found by others, who search in
Google, you have to understand how Google works. Google doesn't work
like many other search engines, which are men-edited, or to which you
have to submit your site. Google has a robot, which crawls between
sites' links to other sites, thereafter indexing them. Moreover, as
much as a site is linked by other sites, it has more chances to be
indexed. In other words - the simple answer to your question is: in
order to be on Google, you have to be linked to as many sites as
possible.
However, the suggestion posed by Bitmaven-ga (my colleague) to use the
site submission page in Google (://www.google.com/addurl.html)
might also not hurt, although Google clarify, that there is no
priority to sites that submit themselves versus sites that are just
crawled into.
If you're not there yet, there could be several reasons. First of all,
it could be, that you haven't been crawled to yet. It could also be
because you are not
linked to any site, and no site links to you. In other words, the
first step you have to take in order to ensure a Google indexing, is
to convince as many other site holders to link you site to theirs.
You can also "advertise" your site (or: write about, not "spam") in
Google Groups (http://groups.google.com) that specialise in the site's
topic, thus maintaining the option that people would voluntarily link
to you. Another fool proof method to be linked and indexed is to
insert yourself to the Google Directory and in other directories on
the site's subject
(http://directory.google.com/). All you have to do is choose a
category in the directory, that would describe you the best, and using
the "submit a site" option.

I hope that answered your question. Please contact me for
clarifications on the answer. I'd be pleased to clarify my answer
before you rate it. |
