What is the investment difference between the two WorldCom tracking
stocks? One is a OTC WorldCom Group(wcoeq) and the other a MCI

What do you mean by "investment difference"?

Are you simply looking for information on the structural/historical
differences between the two securities?

Hi! Thanks for the question.

The difference between the two stocks are mentioned in the following
article.

"On June 7, 2001 MCI, Inc. announced that its proposal to create two
tracking stocks has been approved by shareholders. MCI group stock
(Nasdaq: WCOEQ) will reflect the performance of the Company's
high-growth data, Internet and international operations, as well as
commercial voice services, and MCI group stock (Nasdaq: MCWEQ) will
reflect the performance of its high-cash flow consumer, small
business, wholesale long distance, wireless messaging and dial-up
Internet access operations."

Hi. I'm not looking for investment advice. Hoovers gives an
explanation of MCI
Group(mcweq) and WorldCom Group(wcoeq). It basically says they are
tracking stocks for WorldCom Group. What I'm looking for is why. Why
are there 2 different tracking stocks for 1 company and what is the
signifigance? Thanks alot.

Oh. And why does one have over 2 billion shares outstanding and the
other 1.8 million? Is one better than the other. By the way, that was
a great answer. Thanks.

Hi again jsc-ga and thanks for asking a clarification before providing
a rating.

If you will examine closely the difference between the two stocks we
will begin to understand why they have two tracking stocks.

WCOEQ
- high-growth data
- internet
- international operations

MCWEQ
- high-cash flow consumer
- small business
- wholesale long distance
- wireless messaging
- dial-up Internet access operations

It seems that the latter is catered more for low-end consumers while
the former is into services for higher spectrum customers. The
significace of this is that if I am an investor and I feel that there
is higher income potential in small business communications needs at
the moment, I will go with MCWEQ.

I do not have any information why the other has more outstanding
shares or which one is really better since WorldCom is a company which
has lots of problems right now. But both are in the doldrums right now
as can be seen from the charts below.

MCWEQ

I hope that my clarification supplements my original answer. If this
does not yet satisfy your query please just ask for another
clarification.

Why would you care, this stock is in bankruptcy. The odds of the
stock having any value are very nil. The bond holders and credit
holders are going to be offered stock in any new entity coming out of
bankruptcy. What I am really saying is investing in these securities
should be done only after thorough research.

Best way to truly find out what is going on with these securites,
where they stand etc would be to go to Worldcomm home page, go to
investor relations section and either download a prospectus on the
securities in question, yet even better send an email to the investor
relations representative listed as a way to contact Worldcomm investor
relations and have them send you information about the stock. That
way you will know what the securities are and have a high probability
of getting the most current and up to date information about the stock
in relationn to their bankruptcy.
