What is the history of the excellent snack from my youth -
“Rancheros” - possibly made by KP in the UK. Probably bacon flavoured
and in a tan-brown pack?
I would call them crisps but I suppose they were really corn snacks.
They were utterly delicious. I saw on the net a similar product in
Ireland on trial (?) but I doubt they are the same??

Well..let's see..when they were marketed, perhaps a pic of the
wrapper, any interesting things on their advertising /popularity /
fall form grace etc and in view of the second comments where I would
order some to import to the UK IF they are the same. That sort of
thing. In other words..a bit of a bio.

What exactly do you want to know about this snack's history?

KP Rancheros account for 4% of the snack market in Ireland.
Apparently, they are now produced exclusively for the Irish market.
However, since KP used to market Rancheros in the UK as well, I would
be very surprised if the Irish ones are something completely different
considering that they are being sold under the same name.

Just adding that I live in Ireland, and yes, they are the same snack
that used to be on sale in the UK, and very tasty they are too. They
are now sold in a yellow foil back, but rather than a 'trial', have
been on sale as long as I can remember (I'm 29). I remember as a child
that they used to be advertised on tv by a cartoon type ad. I haven't
seen any ads, in any media for many years.
Regarding to getting some to the UK, I've found one site that delivers
Irish food worldwide that offers Rancheros :
http://www.shopirishwithmoytura.com/foodhall/chips-and-snacks.html
Alternatively, you could try some of the Irsh shops in most UK big
cities. I know of one near Covent Garden that sells Taytos, Ireland's
most popular crisp, so you might be lucky there.

Hi drydoc,
I'm just a humble questioner/commentor, so can't take any money. Hope
you get your hands on a pack somehow.
Thanks,
Rissos.
