Hi trl,

There are 234 companies incorporated in New Mexico that are required
to make SEC filings. Presumably these companies would be
headquartered there.

You can obtain a list of the New Mexican companies at:

http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=&CIK=&filenum=&State=NM&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany

The following states have fewer companies incorporated in them than
does New Mexico:

Alaska 94
South Dakota 151
North Dakota 159
Wyoming 147
Hawaii 177
Idaho 207
Montana 163

If this meets your need, I would be happy to produce the list of the
234 companies and closeout your question. Please let me know.

Sincerely,

Wonko

What I really need is not companies which are incorporated in NM, but
how many are publicly traded on NYSE or NASDAQ which have headquarters
addresses in NM. As you probably know, the state of incorporation is
often not the state where the company does business (e.g. Delaware).

Thanks!

After reviewing the SEC web site, it is apparent that the figures I
gave you are based on location of company rather than where it is
incorporated. So, the Delaware effect is negated. However, not all
of the 234 companies are traded on NASDAQ or NYSE. I am trying to
figure out a convenient way to determine which of the 234 are listed,
but other than looking through the individual filings, I haven't found
a way to do it. I will keep looking.

Thanks!

Wonko

That's exactly what I need, as a starting point.

Now what I also need is quite simple - just tell me where New Mexico
ranks among the 50 states based on this number of 23. That will
satisfy the original request. If you can do it based on the total,
then also give me the number and rank based just on counting firms
listed on NYSE or Nasdaq (NNM), that is also helpful and I will be
sure to tip substantially.

Thanks!
