I need help converting from Handspring Visor to Pocket PC. My handspring visor broke. I can no longer hotsync with it. I have my data backed up, though, on the latest Palm Desktop. I don't care for the Outlook calendar that came with my new Dell Axim Pocket PC. I loved my palm+ datebook! What is the best software to replace the Outlook calender on my Pocket PC - the one that has the most similar features that my Datebook+ has? And most importantly, how can I synchronize the data the best, easiest, and cheapest way from my palm desktop running on my laptop computer, to my new pocket PC (using whatever software that is suggested to replace Outlook with a Datebook+ similar program)? I also need to synchronize my address book/contacts. When I synced the address book to the contacts using I think Chapura? all my contacts showed up only under "all" category and not the categories they were in on the palm desktop? I don't want to have to edit each and every one to resort them into proper categories? What's the easiest way to fix this? Thank you. |

Hello, I recently ran into the same problem when I switched from my Palm to the Dell Axim. To transfer my data, I used Yahoo! Intellisync (which is free and found on the Yahoo! website). I synced my from the Palm desktop onto Yahoo!. And then from Yahoo! onto Outlook. As for alternative calenders, there are 2 major ones - Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informant. Both are excellent programs. Thanks, Kevin, M.D. |

Kevinmd-ga, Thanks for the comment. I tried that option, but it did not work for me. In particular, I'm having great difficulty converting the "repeating" calendar items. I have a 24 hour / 7 day a week home daycare and some of my kids have absolutely nutty schedules. Often, I'll put in a "base" schedule for hours and days and the go back if a child say is picked up late on day, and edit that day without affecting the rest of the schedule. I also need to preserve my outdated schedules as well - I'm required to keep them for at least three years. So any changes I have made to them in the past must be kept as such and not affect or override the newer changes. Which is one problem I'm running into! :-( Oh, and the other problem is that I cannot perform a hotsynch as I don't have a working palm to synch to. Too bad there isn't a palm calendar plus program built for the Pocket PC platform! Anyone else have insight? |
