OK. I give up. I'd like to find a supplier and pricing for a
petechiometer, but my searches have been in vain. Anybody up to the
challenge?

I have found contact information for Dr. Gabor. Would that be a
sufficient answer?

I don't have a calling plan to Hungary, and writing him myself would
take too long. But since he was apparently interviewed in English, I
assume that he will be able to help you if you contact him.

I don't know if the contact info will be sufficient, but it's worth a
try. Assuming I can get hold of him via email or current phone
number, then I suppose it's fair for you to collect the dough.
However, if it doesn't pan out, then I guess I'll be back on GA
looking for the answer to my quest...

This is an unusual situation. Perhaps the contact information, since
it gives at least the possibility of an answer, is worth some
percentage of the total price, while the answer itself would be worth
the rest. Accordingly, I would still be willing to provide the
contact details even if you were to lower the price of this question.
If that sounds good, you can lower the price and post a clarification,
and I could answer the question.

Let's do this. If you have the contact info, pass it along and I'll
give it a try. As for you, at that point, take the money and run...

Hello jat-ga,

This is very generous of you; I hope that it works out, or at least
that you get useful information. It is unfortunate that the
university where Dr. Gabor works -- or used to actively work, since he
is emeritus -- does not list a specific e-mail address for him, just a
phone number, along with a general mailing address (which I assume
will be sufficient to reach Dr. Gabor) and general e-mail address
(which I suppose you can take a chance on, if e-mail is the way you
want to go). But perhaps it is all for the best that you contact him
directly -- that way, you can ask him exactly what you want.

In any event, as the interview with Dr. Gabor notes, he is associated
with Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Medical University of Szeged, Hungary.

Gabor

The official title of the center with which Dr. Gabor is associated is
Szent-Györgyi Albert Orvos- és Gyógyszerésztudományi Centrum (Albert
Szent-Györgyi Medical and Pharmaceutical Center) (
http://www.szote.u-szeged.hu/ ).

It is part of Szegedi Tudományegyetem - Általános Orvostudományi Kar
(University of Szeged - Faculty of Medicine). [You can see the
Hungarian title by clicking anywhere on the graphic under "Általános

"In English" at the bottom right of the resulting page.]

On the English home page ( http://www.szote.u-szeged.hu/aok/main.htm
), by clicking "Informations", you can look up phone and email
addresses.

Unfortunately, neither of the two email lookups (
http://www.szote.u-szeged.hu/aok/info/email.htm ) (
http://www.szote.u-szeged.hu/dmi/cgi-bin/search/search.htm ) appears
to contain Dr. Gabor's e-mail address. (It is not listed on his
department's pages either.)

However, a search for <gabor miklos> in the Telephone Directory (
http://www.u-szeged.hu/cgi-bin/phb ) will give you the following
information:

name: Gábor Miklós dr.
phone: +36 (62) 544-000/1971
department: SZTE GYTK Gyógyszerhatástani és Biofarmáciai Intézet
title: professor emeritus

This department, in English, is the Department of Pharmacology and
Pharmacotherapy ( http://web.szote.u-szeged.hu/phcol/ ). The
department's general address, phone number, and e-mail address are
listed here:

I hope that you are able to get in contact with Dr. Gabor and find the
elusive petechiometer.

I tried to get hold of the professor via some of his colleagues. So
far, only one has replied. Hopefully, someone there will help me
track down the elusive petchiometer! Thanks for your help...

Could it be possible that the name has been spelled wrong? I searched
many online dictionaries but they all returned zero results for the
word "petechiometer".

It shows up on Google, so I assume that it is the correct word. (See
especially the first result.)

I'm just a rookie at Google searching and I've already found the
listing(s) which turn up by just putting the word in by itself.
However, I'm hoping that one of you Google Experts can come up with a
solution to my problem. One hint might be that Dr. Miklos Gabor
(referenced in Passwater's article, which comes up on a plain old
single-word Google search for "petechiometer") apparently invented
this device and that it apparently helps to "measure" or determine
capillary fragility. Have fun...
