I recall reading a rather short poem and I am looking for 1) the title of this poem 2) the author 3) an online source where I can read it. (--If you can't find an online source but you own a print version of the poem, please type the poem in your answer with proper indenation, etc.) What I remember is that the poem addressed a female (the boy's teacher, I think). The boy (narrator) mentions knowing of the French tradition where one keeps an apple on the bedpost and will take a bite to freshen one's breath the morning after. He concludes the poem by saying something like, "I would keep an apple on my bedpost for you, Miss _____." I don't remember her name, unfortunately. If you absolutely can't find an online source of the poem, the title and author will be sufficient, as well as the name of a book in which the poem is printed. Thanks very much! Redmango |

Dear Redmango Thanks for your question. I think the poem you are looking for is: "In Second Grade Miss Lee I Promised Never To Forget You And I Never Did" by Alberto Rios. Its closing lines are: Miss Lee, I promised, I would keep apples For you. You can read it online at: http://www.writersalmanac.org/docs/02_04_01.htm (scroll down to FRIDAY, 5 APRIL 2002). Theres also a link to an audio version. Google search terms: "keep an apple" morning Best wishes blackbird-ga |
