You probably don't want to hear this, but you would be ill-advised to
dismantle an LCD projector, even if you manage to obtain a service
manual.

The optical alignment is critical in an LCD projector, both to protect
the panels from the heat of the lamp and to ensure picture brightness
is even and (if the unit is a 3-panel device) that the panels are
aligned correctly to converge the image.

Should you dismantle the unit, you may find that you are not able to
restore picture quality without using specialist alignment tools/jigs.

Should you wish to go ahead anyway, I suggest the following regime.

1. Take photographs of the insides as you dismantle the unit to
ensure that when you come to reassemble it, you can refer back.

2. Remove only screws that facilitate the removal of complete
modules.

3. Do not adjust or remove any screws which look as though they
adjust the alignment of the optics or the LCD panel(s).

4. Observe anti-static precautions to ensure you do not zap any of
the electronics.

5. Do not touch the bulb, as greasy fingermarks will shorten its life
and possibly cause it to explode (at a later date).

6. Do not dismantle the unit whilst it is still hot (say within 1
hour of switching off).

7. Disconnect the power-cord before dismantling the unit and do not
connect the unit to the mains-power with the cover removed or whilst
any parts are missing/dismantled from the unit.

8. Use a proprietary aerosol duster spray to clean dust from the
inside of the unit. DO NOT USE AN AIRLINE (the air from an airline is
likely to be abrasive and contain dust, water and lubricating oil).

9. If you must wet-clean the unit, use deionised water sparingly
(i.e. dampen a lint-free cloth and wipe gently).

8. If you must use a detergent, use a tiny amount of hand washing-up
(dish-washing) liquid.

9. Do not immerse any part of the unit in water or solvent.

10. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

11. Do not use any solvent-based cleaners.

12. You may use a proprietary photographic lens cleaning solution on
components/modules which you are sure are made of glass (not plastic).
Make sure you don't get solvent on any plastic or electronic parts

13. Refer back to your photographs when re-assembling. In particular,
ensure that any collimating lenses (fat lenses) are fitted the correct
way round and that any heat shields are replaced exactly as they
should be.

14. Do not reconnect power unless you are sure that you have
reassembled the unit absolutely correctly.

15. Do not leave the unit unattended after reconnecting the power
until you are sure that the unit is not overheating.

16. Note that lamps in LCD projectors have been know to fail
catastrophically (i.e. explode) and if this happens, there is a
significant risk of personal injury. I say again, do not connect the
unit to mains power with the cover removed or whilst the unit is
partially dismantled.

Hope this helps
