I'm looking for some documentation (birth certif., death certif.,
newspaper article, Social Security application, etc.) that will give
me the full names of the parents of Nancy Emmaline Robertson, who was
born 15 May 1862 in Mississippi and died 6 May 1954 in Sweetwater,
Texas, and was buried in Slater's Chapel Cemetery near Nolan, TX. She
married George Joseph Giesler on 17 Feb 1878 in Hunt County, TX. Her
parents were G. A. Robertson (born 11 Aug 1837, died 9 Aug 1872) and
L. A. ?????? (born 7 Mar 1843). I'm looking for documentation of what
G.A. and L.A. stand for. At present, I suspect G.A. may mean either
"George A." or "Gustavus Adolphus". Have no clue what L.A. stands
for, except that she might have Indian ancestry.

Here is a possible clue:

"1880 United States Census: Household: George J. Geisler"
FamilySearch

How closely are you related to either Nancy or George? If you have
not already done so, you should seriously consider ordering Nancy's
death certificate which might show the exact names of the parents if
the family member who reported the death knew what those names were?

Where (from what document or from what other source) did you get the
information about the parents' names being G. A. and L. A.?

There is a genealogically-related website called www.rootsweb.com
where you should post your query (click on the MESSAGE BOARDS link in
black/grey letters, then enter the search term "HUNT COUNTY" in the
"FIND A MESSAGE BOARD" box and you will see a page of links come up,
one of which should be "BOARDS--LOCALITIES--US--etc.--HUNT COUNTY,
TEXAS", click on those blue letters and you can post your query for
this family on that message board, where a genealogist who has access
to local records can help you trace the family from Texas records back
to Alabama, where it appears that Nancy's (also called Nannie) parents
were from by focusing in on the exact county where they lived and can
get you their EXACT names.

It would also help the research if you know for sure whether or not
Nancy and George had other brothers and sisters--if so, then please
mention their names, spouse's names/children's names and estimated
ages or date of birth if you know them.

SINCERELY,
4keith

I eventually found what I believe must be your family in the 1870
Census for Dido P.O., Choctaw Co., Mississippi (Ser. M593 Roll 725
Page 456), which you can probably access at a library with access to
the service provided by:
http://www.heritagequestonline.com/

The birth places shown for Nancy/Nanny's parents in the 1881 Census
appear to be a red herring, as only her mother was born in Alabama.
The household is as follows:
ROBERTSON Geo. A 33 M W Farmer b. SC
          Luosesios A 26 F W Keeping House b. AL
          Nancy E 8 F W b. MS
          Gilbert M 3 M W b. MS
          Joella 1 F W b. MS
McLAIN Elizabeth 89 F W b. NC

The name of Nancy's father is clearly Geo. (short for George), but
that of her mother is very difficult to read. It looks like it has
been corrected by the enumerator. I think it's "Luosesios", but all I
can be sure of is "Lu.....s"

Well, i'm not a google-researcher, so I'll have to be happy with a
thank you.
