I used the internet, do not recall exactly whqat I did, and after that the table-top came back without a task bar and the icons were rearranged differently. How can I get the task-bar back? Is there a way of getting the icons back the way they were? Is there a way of providing information which will allow me tho get to the previous table top configuration once I arrange a new one. In other words is there a file which keeps the table top configuration which I can store elsewhere and use to overwrite what has been unintentionally altered? | |

your taskbar is proboly hidden take your mouse to one all the edges of the screen untill you see a double sided arrow then click and drag away from the screen untill the task bar is where you want it to be if its at a wrong edge click on the grey part of it and drag it to anotehr edge as far as your icons are you just have to arrange them manualy |

Here's something you might try if you can't see your task bar: press control-escape. That is the same as pressing the start button, and should make you taskbar appear. |

The icons of the desktop are saved in folders like C:\Documents and Settings\user\desktop\ (win 2000) c:\windows\profiles\users\... (win 95 98) The properties of icons are stored in the shortcut files in these folders...You can save a copy of this folder else where and restor it...when needed... Also you must backup the registry keys... "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" (win 2000) or the entire registry...and restore it when needed... Always backup before and after installing a new software. |
