Dear badabing, A comprehensive answer would be quite long, I'm afraid, since I have been in numerous cities and towns, some of which I don't even remember anymore. But I will list the more important places (in no particular order): - Lübeck - Ratzeburg - Hamburg - Berlin - Kiel - Leipzig - Nürnberg (=Nuremberg) - Bottrop - Oberhausen - Köln (=Cologne) - Hannover - Lüneburg - Berchtesgaden - Mölln - Heide - Cuxhaven - Bargteheide - Travemünde - Heidelberg Of those cities and towns, Lübeck and Hamburg in Northern Germany are my clear favorites. Hamburg, because it is a cosmopolitan harbor city, a bustling metropolis of several million inhabitants and an exciting nightlife. Lübeck, because it is tradition and centuries of history, where ever you go. At every step you do, you are surrounded by buildings, houses, churches that have been erected hundreds of years ago - a fascinating feeling. You should be able to find all the places from the list above using this map tool. Simply choose the first letter and then scroll down to the city's name. http://www.stadtplan.net/brd/deutschlandkarte/home.html Stadtplan.net: Deutschlandkarte Additionally, here is a large overview map of Germany for you: http://www.rochester.k12.mi.us/rcs/schools/west/wwwgerman/deutschlandreise/kartebrd.htm Rochester Hills West Middle School: German Program - Karte von Deutschland I hope this answers your question, dear granny! Best regards, Scriptor | |

A very interesting answer from a superb researcher, who's becoming quite popular in my neck of the woods. I plan on visiting Deutschland next year and look forward to seeing some of the cities that scriptor has mentioned. Ich freue mich darauf, abends in der Wirtschaft Bier zu trinken! Namaste, sian-ga |

You're quite welcome, badabing (I love your username). It will be my first trip to Germany and hopefully I'll have the good fortune to meet my wonderful German pal whom I correspond with. The cities I will definitely visit are Bonn (where Herr Beethoven taught David Bowie how to play the magnificent Hammerklavier) and beautiful Berlin - the place where my green eyes will probably become iridescent as I whisper to my plastic cucullatus, "Bist du aber schmutzig." lol Namaste, sian-ga |

p.s. it was fascinating to learn that scriptor is an author of science fiction. Since I enjoy SF, I'll have to read his books. |
