Hello jbjon,

I started to do some research for you but quickly realized that I had
better ask you for more clarification before continuing.

There are a staggering amount of different types of retreat spots with
many different services and features.

For example, do you prefer a small retreat vacation home, or are
looking for more medium large sized hotels? Are you looking to get
away from the modern luxuries of tv or for a modern full service spa?
Do you want a kitchen available, a variety of restaurants or a menu in
the resort? What price range are we talking about here? How many days?
Do you prefer something by a river, in a woods, or in a smaller
community? What kind of people would you like to meet? Are you
bringing a pet with you? How many potential spots would you like a
researcher to come up with?

What I recommend you do is to take your time, and in great detail
describe the PERFECT Getaway Vacation that you envision for yourself.
Go into as much detail as possible and ensure that nothing is left
out. For the posting price of $50 the researcher who gets to answer
your question will be happy to search extensively and find the perfect
dream spot/vacation for you.

If I am completely off in asking you to do this, or the above
variables do not really matter either way, please let me know how many
potential spots you want me to find for you.

Hello jbjon-ga,

I agree with tisme-ga. The more information you can give us about the
type of retreat experience you’re looking for, the more likely we’ll
be able to help you. I recently answered a question about healing
retreats for another customer. Take a look at it and it will give you
some ideas of the type of information that makes it possible to find
you exactly what you’re looking for. I’m eager to help you with your
quest.

Hi! Thanks for the question.

Our fist two links discusses the most notable retreat spots in the US
according to different objectives. These articles mention religious
retreats but it could also be a place of just pure quiet time.

“Religious Retreats” (I think the ones suggested here are nice picks
for you.)

Hi:

I like where you are going with this.

No pets, river or lake o.k. but not imperitive, family style simple
meals prefered, want to stay a month at least.

Nutrition and/or substance abuse counseling o.k. OR spiritual
mentoring.

Want a place conducive to reading, exercising, meditating away from
night life and alcohol.

Small or large doesn't matter.

Hi

I am new to this and need some guidance. Someone please tell me how
to do this.

I can never opt in to provide the clarification.

I am seeking a place to get away from booze and people and things that
cause me to want to drink.

Looking for a supportive place not necessarily but not to exclude
rehab centers.

But I want a place where I can pursue my own reading interests and
exercise and be supported by those who want the same things.

Please tell me how to do this.

And please don't just say go to answer or question page.

Please tell me how to do this.

john

Hi again jbjon-ga and thanks for asking a clarification before
providing a rating!

I have considered your situation fully and framed my original answer
according to your needs. I will now tell you how to do this.

1. Get a retreat facility wherein you can have a choice of being alone
by yourself at one time or at your choosing you can join a group. For
example you can have the mornings and afternoons all to yourself and
then the evenings you would like to join a support group.

2. Next join a retreat center in which the values and ideas are very
familiar to you so you won't be distracted by the novelty of a
cultural tradition. One way to do this is to go to a retreat center
whose religious beliefs are familiar to you like a retreat spot for
christians, catholics, muslims, hindus, jewishs, buddhists, etc.

3. In joining a religious retreat that is familiar to you, you can
have the peace and quiet and the support groups that you seek at the
same time.

That is why I emphasize that the first two articles are very important
to you since thety explain these things.

"While the centers are as unique in their personalities as snowflakes,
they do share common elements. Many welcome both individuals and
groups. The two most popular approaches are directed retreats, where
you spend the time on your own, checking in with a spiritual guide
perhaps once a day; and thematic retreats, where there are often
speakers and discussion groups centered around a theme. Couples'
retreats are also increasingly common. Most centers interweave periods
of silence with group interaction."

In the article, the following retreat centers provides both directed
(the ones appropriate for you) and thematic retreats.

Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center, 1300 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm
Beach, FL 33408; 561/626-1300, . Costs: Weekend: Suggested donation
$75 a night, single room, bath shared with one person, three meals a
day
http://www.ourladyofflorida.org

Jesuit Retreat House, 5629 State Rd., Parma, OH 44134; 440/884-9300.
Houses 58. Costs: Weekend: $130 includes all meals, private single
room, shared bath; Weekly: $270 ($45 per night) for six nights, three
meals a day.

The Community of Living Water, 6702 E. Clinton St., Scottsdale, AZ
85254; 888/627-5631. Costs: Individuals pay $65 per night for a
private room and bath, three meals; Couples pay $110 per night, six
meals; Groups are $84-$106 for weekends (includes meeting rooms and
audiovisual equipment, plus meals).
