Industry Profile (LIP) recently released in September 2002, a
statistical analysis of the lodging industry for year-end 2001.
Sources include the American Economics Group; D.K. Shifflet &
Associates; Smith Travel Research; the Travel Industry Association of
America; and the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade
Administration, Office of Travel and Tourism Industries.

- 41,393 properties

- 4.2 million rooms 

- $103.6 billion in sales 

- 60.3% average occupancy rate 

- $88.27 average room rate
