I am trying to find a copy of a book I once owned. I don't know the
title nor the author. It was a book of short stories (3 or 4) each of
which featured a unicorn. The word unicorn was in the title, I'm
pretty sure. The cover of the book showed a famous tapestry of a
unicorn in a pen, as shown here:

I read the book at least 20 years ago, so it isn't anything newly
released. |

Hi - the only book I've found that comes close is an anthology edited
by Bruce Coville, "The Unicorn Treasury". Published 1988.
The paperback edition *doesn't* have 'The Unicorn in Captivity' on the
cover, though it's possible that the hardcover did - do you remember
whether your edition was hard or paper?
Here's a list of the stories in the anthology - any memory-joggers?
What News the Eagle Brought" from THE LAST BATTLE
C. S. Lewis
The Boy Who Drew Unicorns Jane Yolen
Chapters 14, 15 and 16 from THE TRANSFIGURED HART
Jane Yolen
The Court of the Summer King Jennifer Roberson
Excerpts from A SWIFTLY TILTING PLANET Madeleine L'Engle
Homeward Bound Bruce Coville
The Lore of the Unicorn Bruce Covill
A Net to Catch the Wind Margaret Greaves
The Paint Box E. V. Rieu
The Princess, the Cat, and the Unicorn Patricia C. Wrede
Ragged John Bruce Coville
Riddle Myra Cohn Livingston
The Snow White Pony Ardath Mayhar
Starhorn Shirley Rousseau Murphy
The Strangers Audrey Alexandra Brown
The Unicorn in the Maze Megan Lindholm

Unfortunately, that isn't it. My copy was a paperback, and I know for
sure that it was before 1988. And the book I read had only 3 or 4
stories, not that many. Another thing to consider...it was definitely
not a kids book. I said I was 10 when I read it...it was given to me
by someone older who knew I liked unicorns...but obviously they had
never read it themselves. The last story in the book was a bit,
*ahem*, adult in nature. Not porn, but definitely erotic.

Could it be a book of 86 poems split into 4 or 5 sections? This one
came out with two versions which had the tapestry on the cover

Go to this site, see if you recognize a title:
http://www.unicorncollector.com/bookstore.htm
I thought it would be easy sailing, but since older books only offer
decriptions of the cover art, it's a tough find. A page count, or a
definition like "Children's Book" might help.
Also see
http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?author=&title=unicorn&new_used=U&binding=HARD&isbn=&keywords=stories&min_price=&max_price=&submit=Begin+Search¤cy=USD&mode=advanced&st=sr&ac=qr
Which is out-of-print hardcover books with "unicorn" in the title and
"Stories" in the decription.

No, none of those titles sound familiar. It is hard to tell whene
there is so little description given for the books that are out of
print.
