NO ERROR CODE APPEARS, ONLY AN "OK" BUTTON. WHEN THE 'SEND/RECV' BUTTON IS CLICKED TO RETRIVE MAIL A WINDOW APPEARS VERY,VERY QUICKLY AND DISSAPPEARS. I CANNOT RECOGNIZE THIS WINDOW OR READ IT BECAUSE IT IS ON AND OFF THE SCREEN SO FAST. HOWEVER NOTHING IS SENT OR RECVD. I HAVE RELOADED OUTLOOK EXP TWICE. I HAVE CHECKED FOR VIRUS. ANY HELP? |

The only solution I found for a problem that you're describing occurred in Outlook Express 4.0. It's possible that it's also occuring in 6.0. The problem is that your e-mail address is missing from the E-Mail Address box in the properties of the account you are using to send the e-mail message. To resolve this issue, follow these steps in Outlook Express: 1.) On the Tools menu, click Accounts. 2.) Click the Mail tab, click the account you want to use to send the e-mail message, and then click Properties. 3.) On the General tab, type your e-mail address in the E-Mail Address box. 4.) Click OK, and then click Close. This was the only error that matched your description. I found the problem information at this Microsoft Knowledge Base page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q177884 I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the phrase "this message cannot be sent" to find that page. Thanks for the question and if you require more information or this solution did not solve your problem, don't hesitate to ask for clarification. And if you find this answer satisfactory, please feel free to rate it. Thank you! xemion-ga | |

Also keep in mind that if there was an error during send/receive there's usually an "Errors" icon/message in the bottom-right status bar of Outlook Express. Double-clicking on this should bring up a dialog box that allows you to look at the error details (in the "Details" view under the "Errors" tab). These errors will provide text that may help clarify your problem for the researcher (or for you). |

when you select the send/recieve icon at the top of oe there is a dropdown menu to the right side (its just a little arrow) it should have four listings: (1)send and recieve all,(2) send all, (3) recieve all and finally(4) it should display the name of your default mail server. if you select this fourth option that should allow you to send and recieve emails until you solve your problem. Also, try this- go to tools then accounts, shoose the mail tab select your server, select properties on the right and make sure that the box at the bottom that says "include this account when recieving or synchronizing" is checked. |

Good points everyone... it may just be that your POP server and SMTP server is down... Sometime I notice that some services (AOL) have some trouble when I want to send a message from my oulook with another smtp server... I usually just have to sign off then back on. Check with your internet provider if they have changed the SMTP and POP mail servers on you. A lot of DSL providers and Cable providers change stuff around a lot. |
