I need a list of songs that have "places in their title - i.e. The
Devil goes down to Georgia, New York, New York etc.

I'd rather have songs from the 60's onward. I'm going to a quiz
tomorrow (Wednesday night) and would like to have some possibilities
in my head for the song category.

Greetings Moru71:

First I went from memory and then I searched the LyricFind.com
database state by state - I've noted the more popular tunes and there
were more obscure ones. If you need the artists names (even though
you didn't request those), search the song titles at LyricFind.com:

Oh, dear. I saw "states" somehow. Here are additional places from
memory:

San Francisco
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
San Francisco Bay Blues
San Francisco Nights
If You're Going to San Francisco
City of New Orleans
The Night Chicago Died
4 to 1 in Atlanta
He's in Dallas
Please Come to Boston
Boston Rag
Meet Me in St. Louis
Cleveland
Stairway to Cleveland
Austin
Amy's Back in Austin
Heaven, Hell or Houston
Streets of Philadelphia
Philadelphia Freedom

There are also numerous countries in song. How many additional places
do you require?

Willis Alan Ramsey is a great "place" singer/songwriter. There are
three states mentioned on his one and only "green" album along with
many other states of mind:

Boy From Oklahoma
Goodbye Old Missoula
Northeast Texas Women

He also co-wrote "North Dakota" with Lyle Lovett.

Can you tell I like the man?

My hometown has inspired at least two songs:

"Take Me Back to Tulsa," Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys

"24 Hours from Tulsa," an old Gene Pitney tune.

Oh, and Pinkie don't forget Eric Clapton's cover of Don Williams'
"Livin' on Tulsa Time" (aka "Livin' on Toast and Tang"). ;-)

I always enjoyed hearing Glen Campbell singing "Wichita Lineman." I
believe Wichita is in the state of Kansas.
