Dear Tom, I searched around a little and couldn't find all of the info that you are seeking. I have, though, seen this information, and more than once. Of course, when you're looking for it you can't find it. Seems to me that one of those law student magazines that are handed out at law schools (without charge) have contained such surveys. Another idea is the career services office at your law school (or alma mater). One thought is that the data may be becoming more difficult to pin down with the tremendous changes that have occurred with associate lateral hiring that has marked the past few years. Sorry I couldn't be of help. Good luck, Tom |

Thank you. However, I'm not in law school or working in the profession. These questions came up in the course of other work I'm doing. Any help anyone can provide I would be most grateful for. |

Hi weisstho-ga, The best I found was an article on the NALP site (The National Association for Law Placement - Association for Law Career Research and Education. http://nalp.org/refdesk/salwars.htm The site itself is a great resource, but having read through about 30 research reports, I still did not find the kind of accurate information you are looking for. It does say that in a law firm of 500 in New York, there are 2 associates to every partner. In another article, I found that it takes 7-8 years to become a partner. Google search words, "law schools" : ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&q=law+schools From there I went to Baylor and to Student Information, which led me to the above site. |

While trying to find the answer to your question I came across this source of salary and benefits statistics that I thought may be of interest. Findlaw.com at http://findlaw.com is the main site but the following provides very specific salary information. http://www.infirmation.com/shared/insider/payscale.tcl?state=NY Unfortunately I have not been able to find the answers to your questions. |
