I'm looking for a DVD database where I can download a list of all
movies ever made on DVD and also provide me with updates as new movies
are released. I would like the download to include a picture of the
DVD cover along with information about the movie (director, year of
release, brief description, etc.) Many websites have these DVDs and
get their information from somewhere. http://www.xiddi.com/ is an
example.

Are you looking for just DVDs released in the U.S. or are you looking
for DVDs released from every country in the world?

I've had a good trawl around, and this site is the best one around for
a downloadable list of all Region 1 (ie US) theatrical release DVDs

http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/dvdlist.htm

It advertises itself as "The Web's Most COMPLETE, Updated Daily
and ONLY Downloadable list of region 1 DVDs"

The full list currently has 28,704 Titles, and over 100 have been
added
this week alone. New titles are added daily or when the web master get
the announcements from the studio. It's a busy site, with over 1/2
million visitors so far.

The list is ZIPed and placed in the download area several times a week
so to keep your list updated you should keep checking back regularly.
This list represents only titles officially announced and those
confirmed by the studios

He also includes search facilities on the list before downloading to
allow downloads of just relevant parts of the list, and also download
of forthcoming movies.

What he doesn't have, and the reason I'm posting here rather than in
the answer, is a picture of the cover and some of the other supporting
info youy require.

Is what I've given sufficient as an answer to you? If so, just say and
I'll post in the answer section.

Another site, with no master list, but a good searchable database
http://www.dvdlister.com/

If you're at all interested, this site has a full database of region 2
DVDs
http://www.dvd.co.uk/

I think you'll find that's what I gave you above. Region 1 is the US ones.

Hello there.

I doubt if you'll get *every* DVD every released in a database unless
you compile it yourself but Amazon do have an API available:

jugxpress, I recommend reading the answer in this older Google Answers
question:
"Master List of All DVDs Ever Released ":
http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=68144

There is a dvd database that includes U.S. releases, but the
downloadable database does not contain cover art, director,
description, etc. Hope this helps though!

You may also want to try our DVD database software Movie Collector. It
is a program for cataloging your personal DVD collection, which
retrieves all DVD info from various sites on the internet, like IMDb,
DVD Empire, etc..., including the cover images (front and back).
