My Sony Vaio PCG-XG19 is giving me an error message upon startup: SuCallDriver (SUCD_TYPE_GET_DEVICE_STATUS) after upgrading to windows 2000. I'm trying to find out what this means and how to resolve it. ian |

I found the error message being discussed, but unfortunately the page is in Chinese... The translator didn't know what to make of it: http://216.239.41.100/search?q=cache:E_W7iWd88rAJ:web.kyoto-inet.or.jp/people/shibaken/paso_ng.htm+SUCD_TYPE_GET_DEVICE_STATUS&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 |

yes, i found that on my first google search as well, but can't decipher the characters. I think I need somebody who has dealt with this personally and solved it successfully. |

I actually tried upgrading to windows 2000 as well on my sony vaio. I don't remember if the problem i got was exactly like yours but i know some of my hardware was not compatible with 2000. At that point my computer was fairly new and what i found out is that sony does it on purpose. They don't let you upgrade to a different version unless you go through them. I think this is what's going on on your computer. I recommend to going back to your original windows...if you still have your boot up cd. |

Hi, I could not open the link to have a look at the page myzelf, but I estimate their is a big change the page is not in Chinese but in Japanese. Sony is a Japanese company, so Japanese would be more obvious than Chinese. Fons |
